This may be one of my favorite devotionals so far because it confronts what too often keeps Christian writers from bleeding onto the page. Sin. Whether you are struggling with self-doubt, pride, shame, or lack of faith, God offers freedom.
“‘Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.’”
Isiah 1:18 (NLT)
“I will make them as white as wool.” I suppose some might argue this verse is not applicable to words of fiction, but at the heart of every story we write are our own personal lives. We can have freedom to address the really dirty stuff (or perhaps the painful stuff) when we overcome and accept Christ’s forgiveness. Never be ashamed to write too close to your own struggles.
PRAYER: Jesus, thank You for dying for me and gifting me Your purifying forgiveness. Help me to never be ashamed to write of the truly painful and wretched sins that have plagued my life. Help me show others they too can have freedom through You. I give You all the glory and honor for my past and future victories over sin.
In Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
